ecsn April figures show slow, steady growth
10 June 2015
Total Monthly Billings showed an encouraging 2% increase over the same month 2014, led by the semiconductor and electro-mechanical market sectors.
Consolidated April performances figures released by the AFDEC Group within the Electronic Components Supply Network (ecsn) show showed that Total Monthly Billings (net sales invoiced less credits) showed an encouraging 2% increase over the same month 2014, as well as an increase in the Book-to-Bill ratio, led by the semiconductor and electro-mechanical market sectors.
The organisation reported a decline of (14%) when compared to the previous month however.
Announcing the figures ECSN chairman Adam Fletcher said that the 2% growth figure is "reassuringly" in line with his organisations forecast for “improving, low single digit growth over the next three quarters". However, the month on month decline shows how the UK / Ireland electronic components markets are being affected by the decline in economic growth across the EU and a continued downturn in manufacturing output in China.
Bookings
Overall Bookings (net sales entered) increased by 2% in April '15 compared to the same period 2013 but declined by (12%) when compared to the previous month:
Book to Bill Ratio
The Book-to-Bill (B2B) ratio also showed an increase in April ‘15. Welcoming the gain as "positive news", Fletcher added, "The polynomial trend continues to indicate that the B2B will remain positive into 2H ‘15".
Ending on a positive note Fletcher added that "Year on Year Billings figures continue to show slow, steady, growth".
