Power management for FPGA reference designs
10 September 2014
Xilinx chooses Maxim Integrated as lead supplier for power management of next-generation Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs.
Maxim supplies the power management for three Xilinx FPGA reference designs. The first of these is the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA KCU105 Evaluation Kit. The collaboration leverages the flexible InTune digital power products, and for the first time leverages its high-density, high-efficiency Volterra technology for FPGA development boards. The density of the power products, coupled with the inherent flexibility and logic density of the 20nm UltraScale FPGAs is claimed to give system designers an advantage in performance, energy efficiency, and time-to-market. As a result, the company claims that its products are up to 30% smaller compared to previous generations on the market.
Maxim will be demonstrating the products at X-fest, free, day-long technical training seminars co-hosted by Xilinx and Avnet from September 2014 through to January 2015. It will be hosted in 37 locations worldwide, throughout Asia, Europe, North America and Japan.
