TTI adds sub-miniature switch for automotives
15 July 2014
The distributor has added Panasonic Electric Works’ ASQ Mini switch, designed for tight spaces and harsh environments.
Sealed to IP67, it can be used in automotive applications and household appliances. As with all ASQ long stroke switches from the company, it has a sliding contact construction and is claimed to be exceptionally quiet in use. The design means that direct operation is possible from a lateral direction on a pin plunger, so it eliminates the requirement for a lever and saves space.
Based on the established ASQ turquoise stroke switch, the sub- miniature switch is designed for tactile detection tasks in space-constrained, harsh environment conditions. Measuring a compact 8 x 8mm and with a depth of only 5mm, the switch has an over travel of up to 2.2mm. Lever installation is possible despite its small size, and operation is possible in various moving parts including metal cams. Contact pressure is not dependent on the operation stroke. High contact reliability supports low level switching loads.
Sealed to IP67 against dust ingress and water immersion to a depth of up to a metre for up to thirty minutes, it is suited to harsh environments, such as detection of door opening and closing, and gear lever position, or white goods and air conditioners.
