NEW announces competition and FPGA masterclass
07 January 2014
National Electronics Week (April 08 to 10) will include the IPC Hand Soldering Competition and UMR’s FPGA Masterclass
The hand soldering competition invites skilled competitors to go soldering iron to soldering iron to compete for cash prizes of £300, first prize, £200 for second prize and £100 third prize. The organisers also give permission for the winner to have “bragging rights as the best hand soldering technician in the United Kingdom”. The first place winner will also earn the chance to compete at the IPC World Championship at IPC APEX EXPO 2015, in San Diego, California.
The other element to this year’s NEW is the Embedded Masterclass, which is designed to show how to make the best use of SoC FPGAs in new designs.
Designing systems based round FPGAs with integrated ARM processors can be challenging for engineers, but the basics will be explained at UMR’s Embedded Masterclass, a dedicated engineering design conference for the embedded community which will take place alongside the NEW exhibition.
