Magnetic rotary sensor is for angle detection in pedals

Using a non-contact design for high precision and long life, the Alps Electric RDCC0 rotary sensor is for foot controllers in machinery.

It can be used in pedals on sewing machines, musical instruments and amusement machines, all of which need to be able to accurately determine the angle of the pressed pedal.

In regard to position and angle detection, there is a demand for rotary sensors that are able to determine how much a mechanism moves with high precision and which possess high durability for ongoing use over a long period.

There is a growing need for rotary sensors capable of non-contact angle detection for use in equipment demanding long life and high precision, says the company. The high-precision magnetic element enables angle detection and linearity to ±2 per cent.
The non-contact design eliminates contact abrasion, contributing to an operating life of 10million cycles, compared to one million cycles for normal rotary sensors.

The sensors have screw holes and a connector terminal on the side, allowing it to be integrated into end products without a PCB. This reduces soldering .
