Transcoder delivers live video in the cloud for HD multi-screens

Cable, mobile operators and cloud service providers can meet the demand for HD multi-screen content delivery to homes and mobile devices.

The Kontron SYMKLOUD Media platform offers ultra HD/HEVC delivery to mobile devices and for 4k television input to the home; third and fourth generation Intel Core i7 processors and the economics of 1080p real-time H.265/HEVC encoding on Intel-based standard hardware.

It allows scalable performance and cost-efficiency of cloud transcoding; up to 144 live transcoded 1080p video per 2RU using only 750W, or 5.2W/channel, says the company and OpenStack provisioning and virtualisation of graphic engine cores for multi-application development such as video transcoding.

According to the company, it offers the high performance and scalability at the lowest CAPEX and OPEX on the market.

Demonstrations at IBC, in Amsterdam later this week (13 – 17 September) will run live H.265/HEVC encoding from Vanguard Video and high video transcoding from Vantrix.

The product will be demonstrated on the Intel stand 106, hall 14, IBC.
