An online tool suite from Vicor lets designers customise and simulate efficient PRM modules
The PowerBench tool suite from Vicor lets designers customise and simulate efficient PRM modules for use as PoL buck-boost regulators or to drive VTM current multipliers for a range of PoL power requirements.
Designers can specify voltage, current and protection parameters of the PRM module and simulate models in application-specific operating conditions.
The VI Chip PRM modules incorporate the company’s high-frequency ZVS buck-boost technology and deliver up to 500 W at over 97% efficiency and at power densities up to 1,700 W/in3 (103 W/cm3). Models are available in full-chip and half-chip packages, with input voltage from 36 to 75 V and 38 to 55 V. As a PoL buck-boost regulator, they provide a user-defined output between 26 V and 52 V.
