SMART Group has announced the release of the first version of the 'ChipCheck Inspection of Counterfeit Components Guide'. This interactive guide provides an overview of the problem, corrective action and methods of test.
The guide also includes two members of the SMART Group committee, Nigel Burtt and Bob Willis, answering some of the most common questions asked by engineers.
The plan is to publish further versions of the guide as the project progresses with information on equipment developments and further guidance on dealing with counterfeit components in the industry.
SMART Group has been running technical workshops and webinars on the practical issues caused by counterfeit avoidance and is very excited to be part of the multi company activity.
ChipCheck is a EU project which is managed in the UK by TWI, supported by funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme managed by REA-Research Executive Agency (http://ec.europa.eu/research/rea) (FP7-SME-2008-2) under EU Grant Agreement: 262212. The SMART Group is involved with a number of EU Projects that are supported by members of the Technical Committee. The projects span a wide range of engineering disciplines where members of SMART have experience and are able to provide support and disseminate technical information to the industry.
