Aerco now supplies two new LED obstruction light beacons from Dialight, each of which are smaller, lighter and more efficient than its predecessor while being available at the same price.

The Dialight Vigilant™ Series L864/L865 is a new LED-based dual-red and white beacon designed for lighting of communication towers, smoke stacks, wind turbines and other obstructions to aerial navigation as specified by the FAA and FCC.

The Vigilant™ Series L-864 is a LED-based red medium intensity beacon that uses LED technology and state-of-the-art optical design to achieve the most compact and efficient FAA compliant L864 light available.

Both units are certified to FAA AC No: 150/5345-43F and FAA Engineering Brief No: 67 and are compliant to numerous international standards. Light output of the L864/L865 dual strobe is: white day 20,000cd, white night 2,000cd and red night 2,000cd while the output of the red beacon in night mode is 2,000cd.

Very precise optics ensure minimum ground scatter light and the LED light source ensures there is no RF interference. In addition, the units are completely sealed to IP66 and have a high degree of resistance to shock and vibration.

The LED L864 beacon consumes only 20W compared to the 1,400W of the xenon incandescent versions, an energy reduction of approximately 98%, while the L-864/L-865 consumes only 90W in day mode and 35W at night compared to the 390W day mode (white) and 490W night mode (red) of its incandescent equivalent.

With LED technology little or no maintenance is required and with a five year warranty and an expected life of over 10 years costs are drastically reduced thus producing a rapid return on investment. In addition, the working voltage is less than 200VDC so there is no requirement for dangerous high-voltage power supplies and low-voltage, high-flexibility cable can be used.

The dual strobe is only 184.9mm high and weighs 11.8kg while the red beacon is 213.6mm high and weighs 9.1kg making them the smallest and lightest flash heads of their types available. This greatly reduces wind-loading and makes them easier and safer to handle and install. The fact that the power supply and control box can be situated 167 metres from the light and the new design allows the fixing flange to be simply removed from the lamp unit also dramatically simplifies installation.
