Wireless security and data integrity preserved for embedded products.

A new royalty free software platform for network enabled embedded system development was released by Digi International. NET+OS 7.4 features Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to make security in embedded products simple to configure and deploy. WPS was created by the Wi-Fi Alliance to enable secure establishment of wireless networks. WPS automatically configures the WPA and WPA2 parameters for wireless networks.

“As a leading wireless solutions provider, we are constantly developing products that make it easier for customers to develop and deploy wireless technologies,” said Steve Ericson, vice president of product management, Digi International. “NET+OS with WPS is yet another enabler of easy wireless development from Digi.”

WPS is suitable for environments where strong wireless security and data integrity is required such as in medical devices to protect patient information or to protect the transfer of financial data in retail and gaming applications. NET+OS 7.4 can also be used for developing secure wireless embedded products with Digi embedded modules. It provides a turnkey solution specifically designed for Digi’s own NET+ARM processors and embedded modules. In addition to WPS, NET+OS 7.4 includes a royalty-free distribution of ThreadX Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) from Express Logic, Digi ESP, an Eclipse-based integrated development environment, and other networking and security services.
