Funding Gained for Developing Graphene-Based Chips

Thanks to large-scale financial backing from Germany's federal government and the North-Rhine-Westphalia regional government, plus investment from the venture capitalist (VC) community, Black Semiconductor is set to bring about volume manufacturing of high-performance photonics devices using graphene substrates.

The facility will be situated at its existing site in the German city of Aachen. The regional/federal funding comes to a total of Euro 254.4 million. This is supplemented by Euro 25.7 million worth of VC investment, with contributions coming from Porsche Ventures, Project A Ventures, Scania Growth Capital, Capnamic, Tech Vision, etc.
