6-Axis MEMS-Based IMUs with AI Capabilities

Aimed at vibration monitoring in industrial automation implementations and motion tracking robotic systems (such as AGVs and AMR), STMicroelectronics’ ISM330BX leverages the company’s proprietary MEMS technology.

This high-accuracy inertial measurement unit (IMU) comprises a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer. The accelerometer element has a selectable full-scale range (with ±2g, ±4 and ±8g options that can be specified), while the 3-axis gyroscope also features a full-scale range that can be adjusted (all the way up to ±4000dps). This device has a built-in artificial intelligence (AI) edge-processing engine, plus an analogue hub to support sensor expansion. A dedicated algorithm enables 3D orientation tracking. It draws only 0.6mA of current when both accelerometer and gyroscope are in operation.
