To further proliferate its advanced microelectronics capabilities, and make up for the sector’s current limited engineering reserves, Sondrel has announced the establishing of an outsourced design team (ODT) service.

This will mean that customers' in-house skill shortages can be circumvented. Consequently, application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and system-on-chip (SoC) developments may be completed at a quicker rate and with better outcomes. The initiative will look to meet customer requirements of all sizes - going all the way from the allocation of a single engineer for a short period of time right through to more long-term engagements with larger scale teams. Due to the remote working strategy followed, the company is able to assemble teams based on each individual's relevant experience, rather than their geographical location.
 
Commenting on this initiative, Sondrel’s Director of Field Engineering & Customer Technology, Paul Martin, said; “It’s really difficult finding skilled engineers at the moment especially for design and verification. A whole chip project could be at risk of falling behind schedule due to a skills shortage that could have severe financial repercussions. You could use an agency and assemble a team but that needs a lot of people and management time as they are an unproven team. We have much simpler option for customers. Sondrel’s outsourced design teams are drawn from our pool of over 100 skilled and experienced engineers that have worked for us for years and, more importantly, worked together in teams so that they can hit the ground running from day one.”
