Multi-Protocol Wireless SoCs/MCUs

Addressing the plethora of opportunities for Matter-over-Thread implementation in home/building automation, the xG26 family of 2.4GHz band wireless system-on-chips (SoCs) and microcontroller units (MCUs) have just been announced by Silicon Labs.

These devices represent a marked performance boost on the company’s previous generation devices, as well as setting themselves apart for competing options. They rely on Arm Cortex-M33 processing resources - enabling as much as 8x faster processing of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, while drawing far less power. The amount of flash data storage incorporated has been doubled (with up to 3.2MBytes being accommodated), and the number of GPIOs available is also significantly increased. The company’s proprietary Secure Vault plus Arm TrustZone technology assure that data is not left vulnerable to the prospect of data breaches.
