Bluetooth LE Modules Address IIoT Demands

04 April 2024

Each featuring the new nRF54 series ultra-low power multi-protocol SoCs from Nordic Semiconductor, the u-blox ALMA-B1 and NORA-B2 wireless modules support Bluetooth LE 5.4, plus Thread and Matter technologies.

These units are applicable in industrial IoT (IIoT), building automation, smart home and digital healthcare applications. The SoCs incorporated provide access to dual Arm Cortex-M33 and RISC-V processing resources. They also offer 2MBytes of non-volatile memory and 1MBytes of RAM data storage. An operational range reaching up to 1400m can be covered. Versions with embedded antennas included have 10.4mm x 14.3mm x 1.9mm form factors.

“We are thrilled to see Nordic’s latest generation of chipsets, the nRF54 Series, being integrated into these u-blox’s modules. Their full potential will undoubtedly open up a wealth of revolutionary IoT end products that were previously unfeasible. ALMA-B1's superior power efficiency in radio and MCU processing and NORA-B2's ultra-low power for the mass market are clear market differentiators,” Thomas Holmberg, Nordic Semiconductor's Regional Sales Director, comments.
