Determining Position via Bluetooth Channel Sounding

Rohde & Schwarz is going to demonstrate a test set-up for the real-time measurement of Bluetooth-based channel sounding during Embedded World Exhibition (9th to 11th April, Nuremberg).

By comparing the phase offset between a received signal and a local oscillator signal, this emerging technique is expected to bringing high-precision positioning to a multitude of application scenarios. It will enable 50cm position accuracy to be derived, thereby resulting in the development of more advanced location services. The set-up being used will be found at stand 4-218 during the exhibition. It will rely on the company’s R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication testing unit.
