Large-Scale STEM Careers Event Returns

31 January 2024

Organised by EngineeringUK, the Big Bang Fair will be held again this summer, at Birmingham’s NEC.

Running between 19th to 21st June, this free to attend event will look to enthuse youngsters by giving them a better understanding of the value of STEM and highlighting its incredible potential from a careers standpoint. This will be done via a multitude of captivating demos and presentations (covering robotics, materials science, automotive engineering, renewable energy, medical technology, etc.), plus various hands-on activities. The target demographic is 10 to 13 year-olds, with the goal of surpassing the 16,000 of them that attended in 2023. During the event, the Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition winners will also be announced.

According to Phillip McShane, Associate Director for the Big Bang Fair at EngineeringUK; “We’re on a mission to drive change so that more young people choose engineering and technology careers. We know that taking part in STEM outreach activities from an early age plays a vital role in changing the perceptions and attitudes students feel towards careers in the sector. The Big Bang Fair is a brilliant opportunity for employers and professional engineering institutions to help ignite a passion for STEM and inspire young people from all backgrounds to pursue careers in their sectors.”
