SVG Support Added to GUI Solution

31 January 2024

Embedded technology specialist SEGGER has added support for scalable vector graphics (SVG) to its emWin graphics user interface (GUI) platform.

SVG is a vector-based image format written in the XML markup language. By moving to SVG, rather than relying on a raster-based image arrangement, results in lossless scalability, along with the convenience of reduced file sizes being benefited from. The emWin graphics library can enable elevated levels of performance and sophisticated animation to be rendered even in power-constrained system implementations. Key applications include IoT infrastructure, portable consumer electronics equipment, digital healthcare hardware, wearables, etc.

"Developers around the world use emWin on all kinds of embedded systems to create cutting-edge GUIs," states SEGGER’s Marketing Manager, Dirk Akemann. "While big systems get a boost from its efficiency, emWin is specifically beneficial for small systems. When it comes to saving memory, vector graphics are an excellent option. Using emWin with a GPU can render the SVG format at blazing speed."
