Image Sensors Exhibit Industry-Leading Low Light Capabilities

The 1.3Mpixel resolution OnyxMax CMOS image sensing devices from Teledyne e2v make use of the company’s proprietary HiRho technology.

This enables a 58% quantum efficiency (QE) to be supported, thus meaning that images can be successfully captured even at very low light conditions (down to 1mLux). A modulation transfer function (MTF) of 63% is attained at 850nm, further underlining that elevated levels of image quality are maintained - especially in the near-infrared (NIR) region. When operating at 60fps and at less than 2mLux illumination, a 10dB signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio is delivered. Among the key applications for this imaging device are scientific/astronomical research, military hardware, traffic monitoring systems, broadcast equipment, surveillance installations, etc.
