High-Density AC/DC Reference Design with Low Loss Flyback Architecture

Exhibiting elevated levels of conversion efficiency (beyond 94.5% at full load and above 91% even in low load conditions), the 120W-rated QuarEgg primary side regulation (PSR) AC/DC converter reference design from Eggtronic is streamlined but effective.

It makes use of the company’s unique zero voltage switching (ZVS) flyback technology, which results in many of the prominent sources of power loss being mitigated. This technology outperforms conventional active clamp flyback (ACF) and quasi-resonant (QR) arrangements. It also allows the component count involved to be reduced considerable, resulting in lower system bill-of-materials (BoM) costs being derived. Applications where QuarEgg PSR can be of benefit will include routers, set-top-boxes and domestic appliances.
