Cutting-Edge Accelerator Chip Revealed by Europe-Based HPC Consortium

16 November 2023

The European Processor Initiative (EPI) has just demonstrated Version 1.5 of its EPAC accelerator chip - which is intended for use in next generation high-performance computing (HPC) installations.

Consisting of 30 different technology partners from 10 countries across the European continent, EPI draws on EU Horizon funding to progress exascale microprocessor development. Despite only having 27mm x 27mm dimensions, the EPAC1.5 boasts a total of 0.3 billion transistors. It features an array of RISC-V based accelerators coming from various different EPI partners, successfully integrated together onto a single common platform.
