Magnetic Position Sensing Device Intended for Linear Stroke Measurement Activities

The new Melexis MLX90423 is the latest addition to the company’s widely deployed MLX9042x series of 3D magnetic position sensor devices and utilises proprietary Triaxis Hall sensing technology.

AEC-Q100 qualified, it can attend to linear displacements reaching 30mm and exhibits strong stray field immunity (SFI) characteristics (up to 5mT). Its functional safety related attributes are another differentiator, with the single die version being aligned with ASIL C requirements, while the dual die version (thanks to its built-in redundancy) is prepared for ASIL D implementations. As well as its front-end elements, this sensor has signal conditioning, data conversion and DSP functions incorporated. It can deliver a ratiometric analogue, PWM or SENT output. Key uses include brake rod travel, pedal position and park lock actuation. For ease of deployment, it is supplied in compact SMD packaging.
