Pre-Certified ISO-26262/ASIL-B Solution Delivers Superior Automobile Positioning

u-blox technology continues to contribute to the accelerated progression of vehicle autonomy. Based on the company’s 9th generation GNSS technology, its multifaceted u-safe platform will provide end-to-end positioning capabilities to higher level autonomous vehicles (above SAE Level 2 all the way up to Level 5), while also complying with automotive functional safety requirements.

Adhering to ASIL B (ISO-26262) and SOTIF (ISO 21448) standards, the platform generates high-integrity GNSS data (via use of up to 3 satellite constellations) to support safety-critical autonomous driving functions. It is comprised of a safety measurement engine (based on the A9 chipset) alongside dedicated PointSafe software. These elements are accompanied by a correction service, provided in association with strategic partner GMV, which compensates for any atmospheric distortions.

Using the GNSS data, in conjunction with data from the vehicle’s IMU and distributed reference stations, its location can be determined to high degrees of precision and trustworthiness. The inherent flexibility of the platform allows it to be used with different a
rchitectures and to accommodate various sensor inputs.
