New FPGAs Pivotal in Construction of USB-Enabled Embedded Vision & AI Systems

10 October 2023

Programmable logic specialist Lattice Semiconductor introduces the CrossLinkU-NX series of FPGAs.

These low-power devices are the first in their class to possess integrated USB device functionality (covering USB 2.0 and 3.2 protocols, with data rates of up to 5Gbps being supported). Through their use, the area needed for discrete PHY components is significantly reduced, with space and overall cost benefits thus being derived. Drawing little current when operational and having an effective standby mode too, implementations based on these FPGAs will have prolonged battery life. 64 DSP resources and 33k logic cells are incorporated into the architecture, with up to 3.7MBytes embedded data storage reserve also featured. Key use cases from these devices will be AI inferencing work, IoT, medical imaging and machine vision.
