Unipolar Hall Switches Take Up Minimal PCB Space & Draw Very Little Power

Intended for use in battery-powered applications, 2 new series of monolithic Hall switch devices have just been introduced by Diodes Incorporated.

Drawing only 1.1µA of supply current at 1.85V, and 1.6µA between 1.6V and 5.5V voltages, these unipolar devices can be powered directly from the batteries of items of portable equipment, thus avoiding unwanted cost or board real estate allocation for conducting power conversion. Their push-pull outputs negate the need for external pull-up resistor components, thereby making system designs more streamlined.
 
The single output AH138x series switches have typical operating points of 18G (AH1381), 30G (AH1382) and 45G (AH1383). The dual-output AH139x series devices have typical operating points of 25G (AH1391) and 30G (AH1392). HBM EDS protection is rated at 8kV for the AH138x series and 6kV for the AH139x series. They can be used for proximity sensing purposes in relation to smartphone handsets, wearables, games consoles, household appliances and industrial equipment designs. DFN and SOT23 package options can be specified.
