Software Stack Pivotal in Automotive Application Development

Aimed at facilitating the development of next generation automobile system designs, programmable logic specialist Lattice Semiconductor has just announced the automotive-focused Lattice Drive solution stack.

Encompassing reference examples, demos, IP building blocks and FPGA design tools, this adds a new dimension to the company’s portfolio of application-specific software resources by enabling vehicle-related applications to be addressed. These include in-cabin infotainment display connectivity and data processing (supporting display resolutions up to 4K, and with DisplayPort bit rates reaching 8.1Gbps per lane), as well as ADAS sensor bridging and processing, plus low power zonal bridging functions. The multiple display connectivity capabilities incorporated mean that up to 1.5x faster DisplayPort interfacing can be realised than with competing devices of similar class. The built-in processing element means that central processing unit (CPU) workloads can be offloaded, with up to 75% lower power operation resulting.
