With a major investment that is expected to lead to the creation of 600 new jobs, Analog Devices, Inc. is making a large-scale expansion at its European regional headquarters in Limerick.
The semiconductor vendor has begun construction of a new, state-of-the-art R&D centre and manufacturing facility at the site. This represents Euro 630 million worth of financial outlay by the company.
The new facility will focus on development of next-generation signal processing technology that will subsequently drive digital transformation in the industrial, automotive and healthcare sectors, amongst others. It will enable the company to significantly increase its European wafer production capacity (with the target of 3x the previous output looking to be reached).
“Since 1976, Ireland has been a critical innovation centre for ADI, thanks to its strong academic and research organisations, business ecosystem, and progressive government leadership,” said ADI CEO and Chair Vincent Roche. “This next-generation semiconductor manufacturing facility and expanded R&D team will further extend ADI Limerick’s global influence. Through organic R&D and close collaboration with our customers and ecosystem partners, we are striving to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges and enable a more efficient, safer, and sustainable future.”
