Dynamic duo from Mornsun extends Relec’s AC-DC power converter portfolio

Power specialist, Relec Electronics adds two AC-DC converter series from Mornsun. The open frame LOF series of AC-DC converters & the LMF series are designed to high specifications to enable their use in a wide variety of applications. Both are designed to provide low cost, high reliability power for demanding applications, while meeting the latest regulatory standards.

Mornsun’s LOF series of 120W - 350W very high power density, open frame, AC-DC converters are offer excellent thermal design for medical and industrial applications in a single power module. There are three open frame families in the LOF series, all in industry standard packages.

Mornsun has leveraged leading edge topologies and components to manufacture a family of power supplies with excellent ripple and dynamic performance. By minimising local temperature hotspots, the LOF AC-DC converters improve system reliability and increase the life of the AC-DC converters.

Each is available with outputs ranging from 12V to 48V and universal AC input ranging from 85 – 275Vac, with power factor correction (PFC). Efficiency is up to 95%. They have a low no-load power consumption of <0.5W and very low earth leakage of <0.1mA.

The LOF series is built around the design ethos that high efficiency and good thermal design equal high reliability they are able to withstand high surges (300Vac for five seconds). They are also compliant to multiple standards for ITE, medical and industrial equipment, namely: IEC/EN/UL62368, IEC/EN60335, IEC/EN61558, GB4943 and IEC/EN/ES60601. They can be used with Class I (with PE) or Class II (no PE) equipment.

They are also certified to the following EMC standards: EN55032 - Class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN61000-3-2 - Class D (PFC), EN61000-4-2 - ESD contact, EN61000-4-3 (radiated susceptibility to 10V/m), EN61000-4-4 (electrical fast transients to ±4kV), EN61000-4-5, EN61000-4-6 and EN61000-4-11.

The AC-DC converters can operate as convection or forced air-cooled power supplies with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C.

The second series of Mornsun AC-DC converters available from Relec Electronics is the LMF series. The enclosed AC-DC converters are designed to meet the harshest of environments and have a low profile of <40mm for space-constrained industrial applications. They are also priced to meet the most commercially sensitive project needs.

There are five input ranges (100W, 150W, 200W, 320W and 500W) and all have built-in active PFC to 0.95 at 230Vac. All units are designed to operate from 85 – 305Vac and 110 – 430Vdc, for operation around the world. I/O isolation is >4,000Vac and all models in the series are approved to EN62368-1 and UL62368-1.

For reliable EMC performance, all models meet EN55032 Class B Emissions as standard and have been tested to 2kV surge requirements in accordance with EN61000-4-5.

The rugged LMF AC-DC converters have a wide operating temperature range of -30°C up to +70°C and are approved for operation up to 5,000m.
