Turbidity Click peripheral development board now available from MIKROE.

Standards-based embedded development solutions firm, MikroElektronika (MIKROE) has launched Turbidity Click – a new member of its +1,000-strong Click family of peripheral development boards. Turbidity describes the cloudiness of a fluid due to small particles and is a key test of water quality.

Click boards are based on the 16-pin open source mikroBUS™ standard for sockets on a development board invented by MIKROE. They enable design engineers to change peripherals easily, cutting months off development time. Turbidity Click is an adapter Click board™, used to interface a compatible turbidity sensor with the host MCU (microcontroller). The board features a 1x3 2.5mm connector suitable for connecting the sensor via a 15cm 3-wire male-to-male cable, enabling users to upgrade and try different sensors. The sensors can also measure temperature as well as turbidity.

The analogue output voltage of the turbidity sensor can be converted to a digital value using MCP3221, a successive approximation A/D (analogue-to-digital) converter with a 12-bit resolution from Microchip, using a 2-wire I2C compatible interface. Turbidity Click comes equipped with a library containing easy-to-use functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.

Nebojsa Matic, CEO at MIKROE comments: “Water quality is, of course, essential to good health, so expediting the development of instruments that measurement of turbidity is a significant step to improve worldwide living conditions.

MIKROE releases a new Click board nearly every day at 10am, and many leading microcontroller companies including Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices, Renesas and Toshiba now include the mikroBUS socket on their development boards. Turbidity Click is available separately or as part of a bundle for just $19.50. For more information about MIKROE’s full range of over 1000 Click peripheral boards, visit www.mikroe.com/click
