UP Media Group announces upcoming design for engineers webinars
21 December 2020
UP Media Group has announced a pair of upcoming webinars aimed at electronics engineers seeking training on designing printed circuit boards (PCBs).
What Every Design Engineer Should Know About Design for SMT Manufacturability will be held January 21 from 1pm to 4pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)/6pm to 9pm UK/Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) time. The session will teach how design issues interact with SMT (surface-mount technology) processes, with a focus on how the design affects manufacturing capability and the manufacturing implications of emerging technologies, including BTCs (bottom termination components), ultra-miniature passives and ultra-fine-pitch IC (integrated circuits) packages.
The course will be taught by Phil Zarrow, an expert on SMT assembly with more than 40 years’ experience with contract assemblers and equipment OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).
A Guide to Engineering PCB Design, sponsored by EMA Design Automation, will be held February 23 from 10am to 6pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)/3pm to 11pm UK/Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) time, with a break for lunch (from 1pm to 2pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)/6pm to 7pm UK/Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) time). This session will feature an overview of the processes of board design from an engineering perspective. It looks at the physics of rise time, field energy and transmission lines; placement and routing; planes and stack-up structure; fanouts; grids; and the signal flow from layer to layer. Special consideration will be paid to HDI (high density interconnect) technology and BGA (ball grid array) setup and routing. All these topics will include information on signal integrity, EMI (electromagnetic interference) and impedance control.
The course will be taught by Susy Webb, CID (Certified Interconnect Designer), a senior PCB designer with 35 years’ experience with high-reliability electronics.
Both courses are for design engineers and anyone interested in understanding DfM (design for manufacturability) best practices.
Each webinar registrant will receive a Professional Development Certificate.
Registration is open at www.pcb2day.com and sessions will also be available on demand for live registrants only (which may suit attendees in other time zones).
PRINTED CIRCUIT DESIGN & FAB and CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY magazines are media partners for the event.
