True colour printing directly onto glass
13 September 2019
Now available from RDS is AMT’s PhotoReal digital printing technology – a revolutionary breakthrough in touch panel technology. High-quality images can be printed directly on the front glass using low temperatures, allowing glass panels of less than 4mm.
There are a number of printing processes and inks designed for printing onto glass substrates. Silkscreen printing is one, but it cannot produce effects such as colour gradients. Ceramic inks possess excellent adhesion, but these inks must undergo high-temperature curing that is incompatible with thinner glass panels, due to potential warping of the glass substrate.
AMT PhotoReal digital printing technology however produces extremely high-quality images and is suitable for glass panels less than 4mm, as the process does not require high-temperature curing.
Every printing process is expected to meet durability standards and PhotoReal Décor Glass panels have passed internal adhesion testing, environmental testing and UV testing. Customers can incorporate these beautiful panels into their products with peace of mind.
AMT is the only touch solution company in the world capable of printing photorealistic touch panel cover lenses – thus, RDS and AMT are bringing exciting new opportunities for panel designs.
