Northern Manufacturing & Electronics EventCity Manchester

The North West is one of the UK’s key manufacturing regions, home to a substantial chunk of the UK’s $32bn aerospace industry and around 12% of UK automotive manufacturing output. Not only that, but Northern Manufacturing & Electronics’ relative proximity to the very active electronics sector north of the border makes it a very convenient show for those looking to source electronic components, as indeed nearly 40% of visitors are.

For those with extensive shopping lists, Northern Manufacturing & Electronics has much to offer. Some of the products on show for 2019 include membrane keyboards from Calman Technology, TFT LCD displays from Crystal-Tech Electronics, pressure sensors and transducers from ESI Technology, and power supplies from Luso Electronics. There are also ruggedised connectors from Fischer Connectors, tough enclosures from Extreme Cases, and specialist sensors and machine vision components from Keyence UK. Bespoke component makers include Protool Plastics, Peli Products (UK), J Coker (Rubber) and Whitehorse Plastics.

Electronics assembly, PCBs and wiring services are also well represented at the show. Turner Electronics, European Circuits and Scotland’s LCL Electronics return for Northern 2019, alongside Manufacturing Services, CIE Electronics, Wireco and Hallmark Electronics. Systems and machine build specialists include Tritec Systems, Sourceways and Eurotherm by Schneider Electric.

For the first time, the show is partnering with several national and regional industrial organisations, drawing on their expertise and local knowledge to fine-tune the event to the needs of the manufacturing supply chain across the region. It is supported by the two main regional aerospace and automotive business organisations, the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) and the Northern Automotive Alliance (NAA). The aerospace sector in the North West accounts for roughly a quarter of the UK’s £32bn aerospace business, employing some 25,000 skilled workers and supporting a rich ecosystem of suppliers throughout the country. The North West automotive cluster employs some 16,200 people, directly generating some £9bn, or 12% of the total UK automotive manufacturing output, placing it as the second most significant region for automotive manufacture in the UK. Not surprisingly, the North West boasts a significant number of subcontract service providers with specific expertise in these areas. One such exhibitor is HTK Europe, a specialist automotive wiring harness sub assembly manufacturer.

Electronics production hardware is also a big part of the show. Some examples include marking, printing and traceability systems from Brady and Dakota Integrated Solutions, workspace storage from Bott and stock control systems from Talliscan. PACE Europe will showcase soldering, de-soldering and rework stations, while UNIS Group will be highlighting its industrial electronics repair and refurbishment services.
