DC/DC converters bulk up

07 July 2008

Vicor’s DC/DC converters now include a 72V input series robust and reliable enough for railway and transportation.

There are 27 additions to the Maxi, Mini and Micro DC/DC converters; nine output voltages, 3.3V, 5V, 8V, 12V, 15V, 24V, 28V, 36V and 48V, and three package sizes of quarter, half and full brick. Output power ranges from 75W to 400W, depending on the model.

The encapsulated circuitry is designed to make them robust for shock, vibration and humidity, all conditions in rail and transportation applications. All meet the operating voltages required for the railway application standard, EN50155, and EN50155 for shock, vibration and temperature. A baseplate is claimed to simplify thermal management and mounting.

There are five environmental grades and six pin options and three baseplate options. RoHS-compliant models are optionally available.

The converters can be configured using the company’s PowerBench online tools. They can be verified in real-time at the company’s website.
