DC/DC converters have input range for vehicles

17 June 2008

Vicor’s 28V wide input Maxi family of DC/DC converters are suitable for harsh environments.

The converters have an input range of 10V to 36V for operating from 12V to 24V inputs, which are typical for battery systems in vehicles. There are eight output voltages from 3.3V to 48V.

They are fully encapsulated and use a proprietary spin fill process to for complete, void-free encapsulation so that they can be used in the harshest of environments.

The Mil-COTS 10V to 36V input range allows designers to specify one converter to operate in both 12V and 24V vehicle systems.

The company offers standard and custom high-performance power conversion components and also provides the PowerBench suite of online tools for users to design customised brick or configurable power supplies in minutes. The company’s modular components can be used in communciations, data processing, industrial control, test equipment and medical electronics as well as in defence applications.
