NEXT WEEK’S BIG EVENT - Make it With Lasers

21 April 2008

Make it With Lasers
Make it With Lasers

Taking place at Warwick Manufacturing Group in Coventry, Make it With Lasers on 30 April is designed to help industry increase productivity, reduce costs and improve quality by the application of lasers within the manufacturing process.

The programme takes the form of a series of workshops targeted at either a sector of industry or application of specific technology. These workshops focus on the practical aspects of applying lasers to manufacturing tasks and are run by technologists with know-how and practical experience of putting lasers to work on the shopfloor. The underlying principles of materials processing by laser are examined, as well as how to get the best out of the technology.

Laser applications provide solutions for harnessing sustainable energy and the industrial use of such technologies can provide long-term solutions to an expanding society and contemporary market needs. Current members of the Make It With Lasers programme are Air Products, Barkston, BOC Gases, Bystronic, Camtek, Electrox, Energas, GSI Lumonics, Laser Lines, Linde Gas UK, Micrometric, Olympus Technologies, Pyramid Engineering Services, Rofin-Baasel, SPI Lasers, Trumpf, and TWI (co-ordinaters of the programme).

Make it With Lasers seminar and exhibition starts at 09:00 with registration and refreshments. Following that is a welcome and introduction to the exhibition from Louise Partridge of SPI Lasers. Covering Lasers in rapid prototyping, solar applications, laser marking and other topics, the day closes with a tour of Warwick Manufacturing Group and an open forum.

With technical presentations from experienced laser-processing experts, this is an opportunity to meet other people within the industry and learn how to improve productivity through the introduction of laser technology.

The enrolment fee is £120 + VAT per delegate, and includes refreshments, handbook, exhibition, technical presentations and tour. For more details, visit the Make it With Lasers website.
