Audio processor rings clear

In a noisy world, echo cancellation and noise suppression are in demand but have size and power constraints.

Following the acquisition of AMI Semiconductor, ON Semiconductor has released the latest member in the BelaSigna family of audio processors range, originally offered by the company.

The BelaSigna 300 low-power, high-fidelity audio processor for mobile phones, hands-free kits in cars and for wireless headsets.

The device uses a patented dual-core architecture, which allows multiple advanced audio algorithms, such as echo cancellation and noise reduction, to run simultaneously to block out external noise.

The 24bit DSP core and a configurable accelerator signal processing engine combine with analogue audio inputs with the 24bit signal path for what is described as ‘superior audio quality’. There is also a full-duplex echo cancelling algorithm designed for the architecture which is applicable to headset and hands-free kit manufacturers. The device can be designed into new or existing design with little or no impact on the form factor of the end-device, claims the company.

The RoHS-compliant device is in a 3.63mm x 2.68mm WLCSP and is sampling now, with production due in the next quarter. Evaluation and development kits are also available.
