TriQuint Semiconductor’s communications modules and components are available across Europe (except Spain and Portugal) from Avnet Memec (www.avnet-memec-eu). The semiconductor distributor hopes that ‘the addition of TriQuint in these countries will allow us to accelerate our growth strategy in RF’.

Digi-Key (www.digikey.com) now supplies Linear Technology’s ICs worldwide, including amplifiers, battery management, data converters, high frequency interface, voltage regulators and voltage references. The US components distributor has also added Infineon’s power semiconductors, discretes, sensors, wireless control, communications ICs and microcontrollers to its Infineon product offering.

Texas Instruments’ range of RFID (radio frequency identification) products for logistics, retail, automotive and security, are now available from TDC (www.tdc.co.uk). TDC specialises in embedded components for wireless applications, such as GSM, GPRS, Bluetooth, WiFi and ZigBee.

Analogue and mixed-signal ICs and semiconductors from Microsemi are available from Nu Horizons Electronics (www.nuhorizons.com). Nu Horizons will distribute controller ICs, ambient light sensors and LCD backlight inverters. Microsemi uses patented topologies and patented packaging reduces component size, while increasing power handling.

Enpirion, which claims to make the world’s smallest PsoS (Power System on Silicon) all-silicon, switch mode DC/DC converter with an integrated inductor, has appointed UR Group (www.urgroup.co.uk) as its UK sales partner. The patented technology provides a PoL (point of load) that incorporates a PWM controller, power FETs, compensation circuitry and magnetic components in a single IC package. It is claimed to save up to 70 per cent board space and up to 60 per cent component count.

The Renesas SH7203 microcontroller is available from MSC (www.msc- ge.com). The distributor specialises in memories, controllers and processors as well as display products and embedded processing modules that require technical support.

TTi (www.tti-test.com) has been appointed by RF test and measurement supplier Rohde & Schwarz to support and distribute its handheld spectrum analysers and RF power meters in the UK. This is in addition to the distributor handling the company’s SMART general-purpose instruments.
