Space saving for medical use

What is claimed by the manufacturers to be the world’s smallest coded panel switch to combine high torque tactile feedback (3Ncm) with a long life of 10,000 cycles, and that is compatible with lead-free reflow soldering is available from Foremost Electronics (www.4most.co.uk).

The Elma C08 miniature coded panel switch measures 9 x 9 x10mm and is suitable for surface mount applications where space is a premium, such as in handheld or price - sensitive mobile devices including two-way radios, instrumentation and medical equipment.

The high torque is consistent over the rated life of 10k cycles and suits low profile equipment with the operating shaft centreline only 4.65mm from the PCB. Threaded and plain bush variants and end stops are available a customisation service.

The tin-plated diecast housing switches measure 9 x 9 x10mm and have an operating temperature of -40 to 85°C.

The RoHS-compliant switches are available in tape and reel for automatic assembly and a through-hole version is also available on request.
