Hosted in Munich Messe from 10th - 13th November, productronica represents the complete electronics manufacturing supply chain.
As usual, each day will have its own focus with lectures and roundtable discussions. The themes this year are industrial electronics, automotive electronics and PCB & EMS. The CEO roundtable will discuss "Cyber security: Challenges for the Manufacturing Industry" at 11am on the first day of the show.
The new layout is reflected in the hall assignments, keeping the individual segments clearly defined. Alongside productronica's bread and butter topics of PCB manufacturing and EMS and SMT technologies, there will be segments for semiconductor, cables coils and hybrids and future markets. Each area will have its own speakers’ corner for ongoing educational presentations.
By far the biggest of the new clusters is the SMT area, which takes up halls A1-4. This area looks at component mount technology, soldering and joining technologies, test and measurement, quality assurance, finishing, subsystems and production logistics.
Hall B1 contains the PCB and EMS cluster. The cables, coils and hybrids cluster in hall B2 will look at technologies including cable processing and manufacturing, coilware production and hybrid component manufacturing. The semiconductor area in hall B3 is driven by the need to have an exhibition that showcases the back end manufacturing aspect of semiconductors, as opposed to the design tools and software covered by the DATE exhibition. Topics covered in this area include semiconductor manufacturing, display manufacturing, LEDs and discrete devices, photovoltaics manufacturing and cleanroom technology.
The final cluster, sharing hall B3 with the semiconductor area, is for future markets. This area will offer a look at the massive changes predicted for manufacturing in the short to medium term as well as methods of solving current technical problems. The section will look at the integration of IT and production computing, potential solutions to implement Industry 4.0, technologies for batteries and other forms of storage, organic and printed electronics and 3D printing. One of the highlights of this area will be a look at how to use augmented reality and virtual reality to look at what is happening inside production machinery.
This year’s productronica will also feature the innovation award for the first time. An independent panel of industry experts will choose one company from each cluster to receive the award. The awards will be presented on the first day of the exhibition.
