Altera and Wind River deliver OS for Altera SoCs
12 February 2014
Altera and Wind River have formed a strategic partnership to develop and deploy tools for Altera’s SoC FPGA devices.
The latter’s OS and development tools support Altera’s multi-core ARM processor-based SoC platforms.
By leveraging Wind River's embedded operating systems (VxWorks RTOS and Wind River Linux) and its Workbench development tools, software architects and developers can exploit the multi-core ARM-based SoC devices and design high-performance multi-core real-time systems. This includes Hypervisor virtualisation technology that enables Linux and VxWorks to run simultaneously in an Asymmetric Multiprocessing (AMP) mode. All are now available on the Altera Cyclone V SoC and will be available soon for the Arria V SoC, Arria 10 SoC and Stratix 10 SoC.
The companies have developed a webinar (Wednesday 19 Feb) that details how to most effectively attain real-time data movement using the multi-core SoC with VxWorks, and describes how designers can use these for real-time system development.
