AS9100 Revision C Certification for ACD

16 July 2012

ACD has successfully transitioned to the new AS9100 Revision C standard.

The AS9100 quality standard expands ACD’s ISO 13485 certification with the addition of revision C to 9100, the quality management system (QMS) standard for the aviation, space and defense industries. The International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) released revision C to incorporate ISO 9001:2008 changes among other improvements.

Designed to meet the stringent and complex demands of the international aerospace industry, AS9100 is the highest certification in the sector and Revision C is the latest version of the standard with which all suppliers must comply in order to ensure a listing on the OASIS (online aerospace supplier information system) database. Revision C changes include greater focus on planning and project management, additional emphasis on risk management and mitigation, and the need to develop plans for continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.

The goal of the IAQG is to improve product quality and on-time delivery of products. The 9100 quality standard is based on ISO 9001, adding requirements specific to the aviation, space and defense industry, while striving to meet the needs of stakeholders and move forward the IAQG strategy. With this goal in mind, nearly 700 comments and change recommendations were reviewed and dispositioned by the IAQG 9100 team.

With the certification, ACD now is better equipped to serve the aviation, space and defense industries with a quality management system that has been accepted by the aerospace industry and that ensures compliance with risk management throughout the supply chain. This certification was driven by ACD’s expanding presence in the market and ultimately has led to opportunities for further growth within the industry.
