2012 will see a brand new electronics production area added Southern Electronics, reflecting increased demand.

The organisers claim that the main reason for this additional exhibition space is that the show is tailored towards the SME businesses that form the backbone of the UK electronics sector.

The organisers’ policy of keeping the entry level within reach of smaller companies provides an opportunity for growing companies and start-ups to raise their profile.

Around 20% of the companies taking part this year are new exhibitors. Some of the new names for 2012 include electromechanical manufacturer Finder, Baran Advanced Technologies, Optris GmbH and Craftec power supplies. They will be joining other well-known names, including Anglia, Anixter, RS Components, Harting and CIL.

All of the usual show features will return for 2012, including the ever-popular free technical seminar. The show hosts two seminar theatres, one focussing specifically on electronics, the other on more general manufacturing and business themes. Presentations will be given by new speakers and leading experts in their fields, from The Smart Group (Surface Mount & Related Technologies), BAE Systems, EDF Energy, NAMRC, Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, University of Sheffield and The Composite Systems Innovation Centre, amongst others.

New topics approached this year include How to Sell to the Energy Sector and an in-depth look at opportunities in the UK’s Medical Devices and Healthcare technology business. Other topics covered include practical sessions on marketing, Lean, CE marking and many more. A full list of seminars is available at www.industrysouth.co.uk, together with pre-registration form.
