On Arduino Day: Ultimate Arduino Challenge from Mouser & Microchip kicks off at Embedded World
16 March 2019
Arduino Day is a worldwide birthday celebration of Arduino. The 24-hour-long community event brings people together to share their experiences and learn more about the open-source platform. The Ultimate Arduino Challenge is a global contest for engineers to create the best project using Arduino hardware.
Mouser Electronics, an authorised semiconductor & electronic component distributor focused on rapid New Product Introductions (NPI), is teaming up with Microchip Technology to present the Ultimate Arduino Challenge. The global contest announced today at Embedded World 2019 by Arduino co-founder, Massimo Banzi at the Mouser stand, invites engineers around the world to create Arduino-based projects and submit them to the Supplyframe landing page, arduinochallenge.com
The Ultimate Arduino Challenge is divided into three categories: Data Collection; Industrial IoT; and Anything Goes. The Data Collection category tasks engineers with collecting data using an Arduino board and various sensors, while the Industrial IoT contest tests engineers’ skills in designing a product that connects to the environment around it. Finally, the Anything Goes category is just that: engineers can submit any sort of Arduino-based design with a description and system diagram.
Supplyframe community members will vote for their favorite projects throughout the four-month contest, and a panel of judges will determine the top three winners. The grand prize winner will receive a trip to Turin, Italy, to tour the Arduino factory. The second prize winner will receive a trip to a 2019 Microchip MASTERs conference, and the third place winner will receive $500 in gift certificates to the Tindie maker marketplace. Plus, up to 500 finalists will receive Arduino boards.
“At Mouser, we are committed to empowering innovation in engineering around the world,” says Kevin Hess, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “By partnering with Arduino, Microchip and Supplyframe for this incredible design competition, Mouser shows support for the engineers who are creating solutions for the challenges of tomorrow.”
