As we enter 2019, Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, provides key insights into how the UK's angel investor community is intending to assert its support of AI within the healthcare sector.

Understanding where investors should be focusing their capital investments within 2019 is at the centre of the private sector's assessments for the year ahead. With the current political landscape questioning the scope and ease of future investments within the EU, what should investors and innovators look out for in 2019?

Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, is of the opinion:

There is no denying that the UK's political environment is going to influence where investors of 2019 will invest their capital, as Brexit will undoubtedly be at the forefront of investor sentiment for the coming year.

One of the most interesting, and fundamental areas for investment is undoubtedly the convergence of AI within the healthcare sector.

AI/robotics/machine learning are magnificent enablers within this industry, and are consequently going to be massively important areas for investors to be putting capital into, due to the fact that they have a huge societal and global impact.

The NHS is the lifeblood of the UK and has, undeniably, been placed under huge financial strain in recent years. Further investment within this sector, in addition to Governmental support, is vital in ensuring that the NHS can remain technologically advanced.
