EPDT magazine January 2019 issue now available
07 January 2019
This month’s issue contains features on Software technologies and Military & Aerospace applications, plus EPDT’s regular IoT & Industry 4.0 supplement.
Our cover story (p13-15) previews the UK’s leading electronics trade show, Southern Manufacturing & Electronics, which takes place at Farnborough at the beginning of February. Also in events, we review electronica – the world’s leading trade fair and conference for electronics, which takes place in November every two years in Munich (p6).
In Software, we review the importance of thermal simulation in the electronics design process – and the true costs of design failures(p11). In Mil/Aero, we explore the impact 3D printing and additive manufacturing has had on aerospace & defence, and how real-time computer-aided inspection can help improve efficiency and safety (p17).
Now biannual, in our IoT & Industry 4.0 supplement (p19), I review the megatrends disrupting and influencing industry in 2019 (p20); we explore how AI, machine learning and data discovery are powering the Fourth Industrial Revolution, through examples in semiconductor manufacturing, home energy monitoring and implantable medical device security (p23); and we explain how Industry 4.0 is impacting the semiconductor industry (p26).
We also review NIDays (p30), an industry event for engineers building test, measurement and control systems and applications.
And finally, my regular STEM column outlines a new initiative aimed at raising awareness of the exciting and rewarding career opportunities in UK electronics, the #TurnOnToElectronics campaign (p34).
As always, I hope you enjoy the issue – and I’d love to hear what you think or any ideas for topics you’d like EPDT to cover. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org...
