Enabled-touch displays on ANY glass surface

Available now from RDS are the world’s most transparent and reliable displays with in-built Lumineq Touch Technology. Enabled by atomic layer deposition, the Lumineq displays can be used in applications where fully transparent properties are required, and on any glass surface.

For instance, it can be used in vehicles just think of a window keypad concept where you can unlock your car door, or when car sharing enter a code, maybe adjust the car sunroof from dark to clear – all done with a single touch.

The same can be applied to the home or office with a touch glass display that can be used as a security keypad or for controlling entry into rooms or offices – the opportunities are endless.

The Lumineq Transparent Thin Film Electroluminescent displays (TASEL) consist of a solid-state glass panel and an electronic control circuit. The glass panel consists of a luminescent phosphorous layer sandwiched between transparent dielectric layers and conductive ITO electrodes.

By applying voltage to the electrodes a pixel/segment is lit causing the area of intersection to emit light. The atomic layer deposition (ALD) enables very precise thin films (a nanometre thick) – ensuring reliable, rugged displays with unique transparency and performance capabilities.

Fully integrated into the transparent displays, this new touch technology does not affect the thickness, weight, complexity or make it less durable. A unique In-Cell PCAP is used where the touch sensors are integrated directly into the existing functional layers of the display technology, which means there are no additional layers. The touch sensitive areas use the existing indium tin oxide (ITO) layers used for the electroluminance display.

Any glass surface can now be touch-enabled – it just needs creative imaginations!
