EPDT’s April 2018 issue cover

Our latest issue is online and in print! It contains features on lighting technologies and automotive applications, as well EPDT’s first IoT & Industry 4.0 supplement. Dovetailing two of the three areas, our cover focus draws on the importance of connected, smart lights.

'Shining a light' on such a crucial topic, the supplement covers smart factory interoperability, industrial cloud security and accelerating IoT development.

In our ‘Lighting’ focus, alongside considering how Power over Ethernet (PoE) networks can power smart lighting and building automation systems, we include a viewpoint on high lumen density LEDs, and also review options for horticultural lighting.

For automotive, we review options for reducing EMI and thermal management when designing electronics for electric vehicles (EVs). In our ‘Test & measurement’ section, we feature a case study on developing a test strategy to move EV in-wheel motors from development into mass production.

Also look out for Editor Mark Gradwell’s thoughts on Engineering UK’s reports, covering engineering’s economic contribution and the composition of its workforce – and asks, “could apprenticeships be the answer?”.

We hope you enjoy this issue – and are always grateful to hear from our readers!
