Real fine switching

Rohde & Schwarz has launched its new R&S OSP switching matrix; an economical modular switch and control platform for manual and automatic switching of RF signals.
It has been designed for universal applications, from simple RF switching to RF switching involving complex EMC systems. Furthermore, automated test procedures offer a means of making complex test sequences required in R&D, conformance and performance testing and production tests fast, reliable and cost-effective.
Users of Rohde & Schwarz equipment that need to switch RF signals can configure different R&S OSP models and modules to suit their needs. The compact R&S OSP120 base and control unit forms the core of the platform. Its rear panel contains slots for various modules, and depending upon the application requirements, (such as automotive, mobile radio, communications, military, or EMC), suitable RF switch and control modules can be inserted into the R&S OSP120. This allows users to deploy the controllable switch platform to set-up calibration systems, switch test instruments and amplifiers in a test system, or multiplex devices under test. When measuring electromagnetic interference or susceptibility, the R&S OSP can be used to switch signal paths between generators or test receivers, amplifiers and antennas.
An Ethernet interface aids integration of the R&S OSP120 into a test system, or it can be connected to a single PC. The software interface allows users to create their own switching configurations, or alternatively, the R&S OSP120 can be controlled via SCPI commands by a standardised, external user programme.
